Never trained before? Perfect.
Everyone who has ever earned a black belt started exactly where you are — nervous, curious, and brand new. The Fundamentals program is built for your first day: a welcoming room, patient coaching, and the core skills that make everything else possible.
You don't need to be fit, flexible, or fearless.
The most common reason people never start jiu-jitsu is the fear of walking in. So let's clear it up: you are not behind, you will not be thrown to the wolves, and nobody expects you to know anything. That's the whole point of Fundamentals.
No fitness prerequisite
You build conditioning by training — not the other way around. Come as you are and move at your own pace.
You won't get hurt on day one
Fundamentals is technique-first. You drill at a controlled pace with partners and coaches looking out for you.
Everyone was new once
This is a respectful, family room. Higher belts remember their first class — and they help you find your footing.
What your first class is like.
Arrive a few minutes early so a coach can welcome you, show you around, and answer questions before you ever step on the mat.
- Warm welcome. A coach greets you, gets your name, and walks you through how the class flows.
- Light warm-up. Simple movement to loosen up — nothing you can't handle.
- Technique of the day. The coach demonstrates a position or escape, then you drill it slowly with a partner.
- Guided practice. You repeat the move with feedback. No sparring you aren't ready for.
- Cool down & questions. Catch your breath, ask anything, and leave knowing you'll be back.
What to bring & wear.
You don't need to buy anything to try a class. Keep it simple for your first visit.
